The motto of the city of Liverpool, taken from Virgil’s Georgics, in its inception paid tribute to the deified Roman Emperor, Augustus.
“A God has granted us these moments of leisure” – never more fitting than when watching Liverpool play. It is little wonder that the Reds chose this motto and the City’s coat of arms as their first club crest.
A Classics teacher myself, I took great pride in producing this banner – my most ambitious and time consuming to date. I love the old crest so much that I have adapted it and adopted it as my logo. As you can see, no expense was spared in this banner’s manufacture. I hope it will outlive me and see many victory parades to come.
